In our 2020 platform, we highlighted the importance of paid sick leave. Recently, the New Brunswick Federation of Labour, along with its counterparts across the country have called on provincial governments to mandate paid sick leave. We’ve got their backs. The NB NDP is committed to creating a solid policy on paid sick leave that New Brunswickers can count on. Paid sick leave can benefit everyone, unionized or non-unionized. COVID-19 has taught us a grim lesson about the need to stay home when sick. In fact, we’ve been so successful in New Brunswick because people have learned to stay home when they have symptoms. That should not be limited to COVID-19. No one should go to work sick, risking their own health, and those they interact with on a daily basis.
