We Can’t Stop Fighting For Women’s Rights!

Thank you to all the individuals and organisations who are working every day to address gender inequality and create a better world for women and trans people. We stand with you.

The NDP was the first political party in New Brunswick to get a woman leader elected to the Legislature, the formidable Elizabeth Weir. Just as our former Leader fought tirelessly for equality for women and today it’s more important than ever to stand together for gender equality. We can’t stop and we won’t stop.

In New Brunswick women continue to face crisis levels of violence. 45% of single mothers in New Brunswick live in poverty, while women continue to make only 77% of what men earn for work of equal value. We continue to fall behind on key indicators such as both child and adult literacy and women’s health.

The NDP believes that government has a crucial role to play in advancing gender equality. Strong social programs create equality for women. We’re standing up for issues that matter to women: gender equality, protecting the most vulnerable, and meaningful action on political representation to get more women elected into positions of power.

The NDP is a movement of progressive Canadians united in the belief that together, we can build a better New Brunswick. With hope and optimism, only the NDP can unite New Brunswickers to build a province where no one is left behind.
