NB NDP Leader Hopeful Unable to Pass Party Vetting
Party President vows to hold a, “…longer leadership campaign”
Fredericton, NB, CANADA- New Brunswick NDP President Cyprien Okana announced the party will not hold a leadership convention in August as originally planned. The party’s one candidate failed to pass the vetting process, and therefore the party will resume its search for a new leader. Okana stated that the party is now in a position to, “… actively recruit talented, visionary and competent individuals for the role of leader.”
Despite not having made any firm plans for the next leadership convention, the party has had several interested individuals seek out further information about the nomination process since the previous candidate was unable to pass the first phase of the nomination process.
In an email to the party membership, Okana indicated the party is in the process of rebuilding its infrastructure and committees in preparation for the next election cycle. “We are focusing our efforts in re-engaging our members and external stakeholders for their ideas on how we can work together for all New Brunswickers.”
